Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the SMCO Driver App (operated by Scrap My Car Online Ltd) handles your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

The SMCO Driver App collects only the information that you choose to submit through the app, specifically:

  • Help form submissions, which may include your name, contact details and a description of the issue.
  • Location data, which is recorded continuously while the app is in use to track your driving routes for collections.

Any other personal information (such as your name, address, driving licence, or payment details) is collected separately by Scrap My Car Online Ltd during the manual registration process, and is not collected through the app.

2. Location Data

The app requires access to your device’s location to function correctly. Location data is collected continuously while the app is running and may continue even when the app is in the background, depending on your device settings. This data is only accessible by authorised staff of Scrap My Car Online Ltd for monitoring collections and logistics.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data to:

  • Provide operational support for your collection duties
  • Monitor journey logs and collection activities
  • Respond to help form enquiries
  • Improve the service and support offered to drivers

4. Sharing of Data

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing. Your location and form data are only accessible to authorised staff of Scrap My Car Online Ltd. We integrate Google Maps to assist with navigation but do not share personal data with Google outside standard map loading behaviour.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data only as long as required for business and compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the account deletion form available on the Account page in the app. Upon deletion, all associated data is permanently erased.

6. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, disclosure or destruction.

7. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection law (including GDPR), you have rights including:

  • The right to access your data
  • The right to request correction or deletion
  • The right to object to certain processing

Terms & Conditions

1. Use of the App

The SMCO Driver App is intended for use by registered and approved drivers working with or contracted by Scrap My Car Online Ltd. Use of the app requires a valid login, provided following successful manual account approval.

2. Driver Responsibilities

By using the app, you agree to:

  • Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
  • Update each assigned collection accurately with images and notes
  • Maintain the app’s location tracking permissions to ensure accurate route logging
  • Use the help form for genuine queries or issues only

Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of app access.

3. Shifts and Holiday Requests

  • Drivers may submit holiday requests via the app, which will be reviewed and approved manually.
  • Work shifts are assigned directly by head office and are not managed within the app.

4. Support

Help form submissions are sent via email to the Scrap My Car Online admin team. Support is provided via email or phone only.

5. Termination and Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time using the form linked on the Account page in the app. Scrap My Car Online Ltd reserves the right to suspend or terminate app access for misuse or breach of these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, software and branding within the SMCO Driver App remains the property of Scrap My Car Online Ltd. You may not copy, modify or distribute the app or any of its contents.

7. Limitation of Liability

Scrap My Car Online Ltd accepts no liability for technical failures, data loss, or indirect damages arising from use or misuse of the app. The app is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Privacy policies at any time. Continued use of the app indicates your acceptance of any changes. The latest version will always be available within the app and at www.scrapmycaronline.co.uk.

9. Legal Jurisdiction

These Terms and the use of the SMCO Driver App are governed by English law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
